DECEMBER 2022

December 1st – SPRITES – A larger farm silo

December 2nd – SPRITES – school lockers, a modern alarm clock, an older alarm clock, alternate clock, clock and an 8 bit Jeff Johnson character sheet

December 3rd – SPRITES – A World Map, fire extinguisher in container and on its own, school lockers red, school lockers blue, a first aid sign, a first aid cabinet, a whiteboard, a blackboard, a hunter capsule broken, breaking, with bullet hole and normal, and dresser drawers closed,

December 4th – SPRITES – Overhead Projector and a cork board.

December 5th – SPRITES – Dead human in woods

December 9th – SPRITES – Skull field remains, fire extinguisher on wall, a narrow TV on Cart

December 10th – SPRITES – Large flower sprites, flowery grass sprite,

December 11th – SPRITES – Sideways school buses

  • More asset packs found for the project found from an earlier cause I donated to. Lots of assets were received at that time, but never really had a chance to go through them all. Too many to list here really, but if anything good comes from those assets with this project, I’ll be sure to document them.

December 12th – SPRITES – A Globe, A map of Drumbo unmarked and marked, Sabor’s books, school books, a bog waddler skeleton and a regular skeleton sculpture

December 13th – SPRITES – Beakers and Test Tubes

  • Found three LimeZu asset packs that could be really useful. One for Modern Interiors, one for Fungus Caves and another pack of RPG Fantasy Battler Sprites. Some could be useful starting points for monsters in No Light Town.

December 15th – SPRITES – Work began on a punching bag, a gas can, hand weights and a mens washroom sign.

December 16th – SPRITES – Bunch of benches, Silver Small Trophhy, Small Trophy and a regular Trophy

December 17th – SPRITES – Sideways Benches, School Benches, Wet Floor Signs, Alt Calendar and Calendars

  • Picked up a new asset pack for music on itch.io – Joel Steudler – Modern Day Music Mini-Pack.

December 18th – SPRITES – Custodian Carts

December 19th – New asset pack – snow.pixels – Post Apocalypse icon asset pack. Some of the weapons here would be a great fit for No Light Town’s world.

December 20th – SPRITES – Hanging Cages and hollowed out cages

December 21st – SPRITES – Desk Mic, Mic Stand, Note on table, Another note on table, music stands

December 22nd – SPRITES – Grey School Chairs and regular school chairs

December 23rd – Found a neat asset pack from Estudio Vaca Roxa on itch.io… A simple name for the pack – Generic RPG Pack. But the artwork is very neat. Could be very useful.

December 24th, 29th, 30th – Working on a Potential Title Screen for the New World, started from a picture uploaded by Avery to the RPG Maker Forum. Not sure if this is the one I’ll be going with for the title screen. If not, it’ll be a piece of key art somewhere in the game.

December 26th – Another asset pack that seems like a good fit for No Light Town… This one by LimeZu called Modern exteriors – RPG Tileset

  • Looking at an asset pack – Admurin – Nature: Trees

January 4th – Taking another look at Ansimuz’s asset packs. This time looking at an asset called Warped Miami Synth. Figured it could be useful for a city setting in the game.

January 6th – Another sprite asset pack from itch.io today. This time looking into KR Fortress Ruins Tileset for RPGs by Kokoro Reflections. This sprite set could be useful for a section of my project coming up called Duncan’s Castle.

January 8th – SPRITES – section of bathroom counter, sink, bathroom sink, toilet open, toilet, urinal,

January 9th – SPRITES – Mirror large and small, paper towels and hand dryer, urinal halfway, bathroom stall variations,

January 10th – SPRITES – Paris School Messages, An Example Bathroom, Paris School Sign, Sideways Sink, Garbage Cans

  • Looking into more music for the game. This time, I was introduced to Poltergasm’s music on itch.io. Very good quality stuff!

January 11th – SPRITES – Cafeteria Doors, School Cafeteria Railing, school floor tile, red punching bag, blue punching bag, opposite punching bag, rack of weights, small grey barbell, large barbells, barbells, Paris High School Sign outside,

January 12th – SPRITES – A toaster, a microwave, a tire pile, a school wall tiles, cafeteria doors

January 13th – SPRITES – Cafeteria Wall Tiles, Bathroom floor tiles, map of Wolverton

  • Three new asset packs looked into from Itch.io. Rock Music For Games – Ragnar Random, RPG Shop Theme – Music by poltergasm and Streets of Fight by Ansimuz.

January 14th – SPRITES – Cafeteria Entrance, Panther Face Wall, Cafeteria Window, Cafeteria Floor Tile, Small Cafeteria Window, Cafeteria Wall, and example cafeteria map made today. A lot of work for one room of the high school.

January 16th – SPRITES – Tweaked the sprites for the train tracks.

  • Purchased an asset pack by GrafxKid called the Mini Pixel Pack 2. It could be useful for putting together road sprites for the game.

January 19th – SPRITES – Sprites made for GameBox, a GameBox controller, a full garbage can and a fridge.

January 20th, 21st, 22nd – Important – Spent a lot of time working on the first monster that will be seen in the game. A Begotten Demon appearing in Keith’s dreams. On top of working on its regular look, I’ve also been working on a shadowed form of it. The challenge now is figuring out how I’m going to make its large sprite work. This could be one of the most complicated sprites included in No Light Town, but if its successful… it’ll look damn good.

January 22nd – SPRITE – Looking into drawing a Mister Steak Truck Stop, which is an actual restaurant name near Drumbo, Ontario. I might come up with a similar location, but different name. Also had the brilliant (?) idea of making a Mister Steak mascot (a steak with arms and legs)

  • Purchased the Sunnyland Forest – Expansion Pack 1. A great looking asset pack by ansimuz that could provide some useful trees for my project.

January 23rd – SPRITES – Made a 3×2 pool table, Made Gas Pumps for two different gas stations.

  • Began looking at the sprites used in several games for a chase animation. Specifically Re:Turn and Aoi Oni. Lots of work to do here someday.

January 24th – Working on the graphic for an additional boss in No Light Town. I’m calling it a Flame Soul.

January 27th – SPRITES – Remade the Rob and Stan Howard Sprites using RPG Maker’s character generator on PC. Drafting of the characters sprites to match current artwork will be started as soon as we get more of the character sprites put together.

January 28th – BATTLEBACKS – Tweaks made to the Farm Field and Drumbo Main Street battlebacks.

– SPRITES – Remade the sprites for Keith Howard, Hero John, Drumbo Dan, Drumbo Posse, Jaguar, John Barbas, Martin Shuzer, Kain with Rune Inc, Sabor Guy of the Woods, Randy Brown, Sergeant Derek Stewart, Marta Lourdes, Lana Langley, Gina Addison on PC’s character generator.

January 31st – Saw a wicked asset pack by Kokoro Reflections. A concert hall tileset could be useful for later sections of the game. The full name of the asset is KR Concert Tileset for RPGs.

FEBRUARY 2022

February 1st – February 10th – SPRITES – Spent these ten days working on reworking artwork for Stan, Rob and Keith’s sprites. From there, began work on making additional sprites for each characters (emotions, sleep, etc.) Also began reworking Stan’s battle animations.

February 1st – Three asset packs caught my attention today. CRUG63R’s Nozomi Free Customizable VN Character, DeepDiveGameStudio’s Demons Asset Pack and Crusenho’s Crabby Beach

February 2nd – Purchased another asset pack, this time the asset pack is RPG asset tileset nature dungeon pack with Super Retro World, as asset pack by Gif.

February 9th – Became a supporter of ansimuz on Patreon, gaining access to his huge wealth of pixel artwork. The majority of his pixel work is meant for 2D metroidvania style games, but there are several different sprites in there that could be a good fit for No Light Town if reworked and edited.

February 11th – Researching asset packs. Looked into ghostpixxells Free Pixel Foods pack. Potential items here are useful to be reworked for No Light Town
